Valentine’s Day, and I’m on one knee, in my kitchen, taping pieces of paper together into a model.  I’ve been toying with the idea of a Metrocard sculpture over the past few days and have decided to try something I have a little experience in and a lot of predilection for: seating elements.  I would ideally use the cards alone to create something structurally sound, however a quick calculation of even a simple design scared me off…it would require several thousand.  I’m starting to think that lamination is the way to go, either using sheet steel as an armature or fiberglass.
