The Metrobench
Feb 25
It’s happening. I have that blood-buzz, that jolt of soul caffeine that rises whenever I cross the threshold in a project which is sliding from the impossible to the imminent. It’s a heady teetering on the limb of commitment as you reach out for the apple…it’s that backward stage dive from potential to kinetic energy.
I picked up the steel substructure for what I am starting to call the “Metrobench” today from Mohan. When I arrived, both cylinders had been rolled, and I needed to decide where to cut them before welding. I felt the spring in the steel and chose to leave them intact—a variation from my original design—so there would be no issues with the seat supporting one or two persons.

Spoke with Greg again at the MTA museum. – no contact yet.
It’s time to make a Craigslist ad.
